Calculating Damages in IP cases - Danish and International Perspectives

Rasmus is a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Copenhagen. His research focuses on private law, law and economics, contracts, torts, civil procedure and damages in complex commercial cases.

He holds a Ph.D. from Copenhagen Business School and a Candidatus Juris from the University of Copenhagen.

Before entering academia, he practised as an attorney at Plesner Law Firm and held visiting positions at UC Berkeley, the University of Tor Vergata and Yale University.

Judge Birss is the Chancellor of the High Court of England and Wales. He was called to the English Bar in 1990 and practised intellectual property law before joining the bench in 2010, first as judge of the Patents County Court, now IPEC.

He was appointed to the High Court in 2013 and to the Court of Appeal in 2021. From 2019 to 2021, he was Judge in Charge of the Patents Court, and from 2021 to 2025, Deputy Head of Civil Justice. He was appointed to his current role in 2025 and sits in both the Court of Appeal and the High Court.

Jeppe is a partner at NJORD Law Firm and an intellectual property specialist with more than 25 years of experience advising international companies on protecting and enforcing rights across Scandinavia. His work covers IP litigation, anti-counterfeiting and entertainment law, with particular expertise in music and film copyright.

Jeppe is admitted to appear before the Danish Supreme Court and is active in international legal and business networks, including the Danish-French Chamber of Commerce.

Ankit is an experienced intellectual property and technology lawyer. His practice focuses on contentious IP and enforcement matters and he is authorized to proceed before the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India.

He is active internationally through EUIPO and INTA, has advised India’s Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce on IP reforms, and teaches at National Law at the University of Delhi. He has been recognised by Managing IP and World Trademark Review 1000 for his work in AI, IP, trademark litigation and enforcement.

David is a trained lawyer and CEO of Nordic Content Protection. He has more than 25 years of international experience in intellectual property law, anti-piracy enforcement and platform regulation, advising broadcasters, rightsholders and technology companies on enforcement, litigation and regulatory matters.

He has contributed to legislative initiatives on IPR protection in Denmark, Norway and Sweden and has been involved in more than 300 IPR-related cases worldwide. His expertise spans content protection, illicit streaming, platform liability, digital distribution and enforcement strategies for regulated and unregulated streaming ecosystems.

John is a globally recognized expert in intellectual property law and policy. During more than 17 years at the U.S. Department of Justice, including as Assistant Deputy Chief for Litigation in the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section, he became one of the United States’ most experienced prosecutors of IP crimes. He led several landmark cases, including the first conviction of a cyberlocker operator and the first criminal copyright prosecution involving mobile applications.

As the founder of Zacharia Law PLLC, he has successfully referred major IP infringement cases to law enforcement and secured one of the largest contributory trademark counterfeiting awards in U.S. legal history.

Erling is a Danish lawyer with almost 38 years of legal experience, including more than 20 years as a deputy state prosecutor at the Danish State Prosecution Office for Serious Economic Crime.

Since 2006, he has specialized in intellectual property and internet crime. From November 2014, he has worked for the European Union Intellectual Property Office in Alicante, Spain.
